About
Angie Camp, author of Hells Bend: A Moment from Eternity, is a lifelong resident of North Mississippi. A single mom of five and grandmother of two, Angie has almost thirty years of experience in worship and dramatic arts ministry. Among the wonderful opportunities God has afforded her was the privilege of serving as choir and pageant ministry director of the former First Evangelical Church in Northeast Mississippi. This pageant ministry, which had begun two decades earlier, was known for its anointed and very talented leadership, singers, and actors, packing out performances at Christmas and Easter. Each season reaped a harvest, with hundreds of salvations and recommitments to live a life for Christ. During her time of leadership, Angie’s original screenplays were used as the storylines for the five-performance productions that drew audiences from multiple states. Angie used her gifts in writing, song selection, choral direction, drama, and staging to bring to life the person of Jesus Christ.
In 2006, Angie’s life took a dramatic turn as inconceivable tragedies plagued her family. One of the most devastating incidents occurred when her sixteen-year-old son, Bryant, was involved in a horrific wreck. The fiery crash left him with burns beyond fourth degree on his legs, which led to a double amputation. This event came in the midst of an already-traumatic situation with her husband. In a very short period of time, Angie’s family would be devastated by numerous life-changing events: drugs; divorce; loss of home, vehicle, and belongings; a change in schools for her children; and the death of her husband of twenty-one years. But God faithfully carried Angie and her children through every trial, surrounding them with friends and family to help meet their needs, and also providing for them supernaturally.
God used Angie’s gifts and life experiences, along with those of co-author Barry Westmoreland, to produce the Christian-fiction novel Hell’s Bend: A Moment from Eternity.
Shortly after the launching of the book, Angie would face her greatest tragedy to date. In July 2016, the inspiration for the main character of her debut novel—her son Bryant—would die unexpectedly at the age of twenty-five. Although every event in her life is now bittersweet, Angie has chosen to embrace each one with joy. Looking at the wonderful works of God’s hands, she knows Him well enough to understand that His plans are for good and have Kingdom purpose.
Angie is the founder of More Than Restored Ministries, where she uses her own life experiences, combined with the truths of God’s word, to minister hope to others. She does this by speaking at various forums and churches, and through personal Christian counseling. Angie received her Bachelor of Science in Religion: Christian Counseling from Liberty University and is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling with a focus in Crisis Response and Trauma. She is also a certified Holistic Biblical Counselor.
Angie currently resides in North Mississippi. Although she grieves the loss of Bryant, she cherishes the children she still has with her and particularly her role as “Peaches” to her precious grand babies, Liam and Leia Rose. Presently, a spring wedding is in the works for her twenty-two year old son, Zeke, and his beautiful fiancé’, Caroline. She is hopeful of another soon to follow with her son, Chase, and precious girlfriend, Lexy. Angie still has her two younger children living at home with her: Landon, who is seventeen, and eleven-year-old daughter, Millie—the ballerina princess among her knights in shining armor. Angie enjoys watching them grow in their musical giftedness, and she stands in awe at seeing the development of their spiritual gifts.
Although the pain is great, Angie knows the purpose is greater. The desire of her heart is to pursue ministry where God is using it all for good.
Acknowledgements
Writing Hell’s Bend has been an incredible journey to say the least. It has certainly been a journey which I did not travel alone. Although it was a daunting task as times, my path was filled with encouragers, providers and supporters. Over the course of the past two years, many have offered their gifts, talents and experiences in helping get Hell’s Bend to its finished product. I’d like to publicly thank them for their investment in this God-ordained project that will, without a doubt, enlarge His Kingdom. May you each be abundantly blessed for giving of yourself…all for the glory of God.
Thanks to…
My business partner and friend, Barry Westmoreland, for locking arms with me at the very beginning and financially carrying this assignment from start to finish, along with your prayers and trust in my giftedness. And to your precious wife, Donna, whom God blessed us with in the midst of our journey. She saw the vision, sowed seeds in faith and served as an incredible prayer warrior along the way.
Editor Caroline Pugh, who turned many of my words into sheer poetry. You are incredibly gifted. Thank you for showing me much grace in my areas of lack.
Editor Jennifer Nanney, who has an incredible eye for dotting every i and crossing every t. Your sweet spirit and diligence are so refreshing.
David Ball, pastor of The Anchor Church, who, under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, taught an incredible lesson on hell, then helped to orchestrate the sermon portraying hell in truth, according to God’s word. The reality of hell is brought to life and will lead many into the fold, saving their souls from an eternity apart from God. Your passion for the lost creates a hunger in those around you. You walked with my family through the fire and have been a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Scooter Noland, pastor at Hope Church, who first stepped into my family’s life as our youth pastor, leading my boys during difficult times. Your sermon, “God’s Guardrails Against Hell,” is powerful and was ordained for this book…no doubt. The impact it will have on our young readers will help reveal how important their choices are, not just for themselves, but for many others around them. Thank you for your time and effort in aiding this story’s sense of urgency. You have truly been a source of strength to me.
Sheriff Jim H. Johnson and his team of deputies at the Lee County Sheriff’s department, Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green, 911 Administrator Paul Harkins, 911 dispatcher Jason Nichols, D.A.R.E. director Sheri Hall and various medical professionals who aided me in the writing process, ensuring its authenticity. Not only have you helped professionally, you have become life-long friends.
Those who have read, written reviews and are recommending this work to others on my behalf. You have encouraged me with words of validation and critiqued me with words of wisdom. Bless you for making me better.
Precious family members and friends, some of whom helped to create and shape the personalities of most of the characters in the story, along with supporting me through your prayers and encouraging me to press on. You are beautiful and cherished.
